Students dorm.
The concept of the design was to provide a stage for college students to present their works of art and to share them with people who might pass by, and by this inflate a bit of fresh air in the neighborhood.
The amphitheater is located in the center of the project, and the surrounding buildings serve also as additional galleries. The circulative concept is a ramp ascending along the wall of the building, from the stage up to the roof. These ramps inspired me to for the construction of the building by way of diagonal beams positioned alongside to support the building and ramps, resulting in a lattice with strong moment of inertia. The whole building sits on four supporting walls that lift it above the street level. This allows visual and acoustic communication between the stage (the amphitheater), and the neighboring pedestrian zone and garden.
